The BBC Worldservice (radio programmes broadcast worldwide) has set up this website to help you learn English.

Words in the News
The BBC Wolrd Service provides news about events unfolding worldwide. Everyday, one news item is selected and used as tool for learning English. You will be able to listen to the excerpt, read about it, assimilate new vocabulary and learn about the news at the same time!

Here is a link to the Merriam-Webster free Online Dictionary, it will also allow you to hear the words pronounced in American English.

IATE Database (InterActive Terminology for Europe)
This is the IATE database, a website for professional translators set up by the European Commission.
You can translate FROM any European language INTO any European language,
just select the source language and the target language you are interested in.
Make sure you find the term in the appropriate field of application, i.e. electical engineering,
agriculture, political science, town planning, etc.
